Job Opening: Front Desk Associate – Part-time Year Round (Save The Bay’s Hamilton Family Aquarium)

REPORTS TO:

Aquarium Operations Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Front Desk Associate works in a team-oriented environment to provide an exceptional visitor experience. Associates will be greeting visitors (audiences including families, members and groups) process admissions, promote membership and merchandise sales, answer questions, and complete all opening/closing administrative reports and procedures, as outlined on the checklist. Associates are expected to maintain the highest level of friendly and helpful customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately collect payment for admission tickets, memberships, and merchandise.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and provide information to guests about our mission, membership levels and upcoming program offerings at the Aquarium.
  • Assist guests in the gift shop.
  • Restock the gift shop as needed throughout the day.
  • Answer the phone, check the voicemails and forward them to the appropriate person.
  • Ensure all guest resource information, such as brochures, reports and rack cards are neatly exhibited and available for distribution.
  • Maintain the safety, cleanliness and organization at the front entrance, bathroom, gift shop and lower gallery, both in view of the general public and behind the scenes.
  • Maintain security of cash handling process.
  • Support the team structure of the organization by remaining responsive to the needs of the management and supervisors, filling in when and where needed as directed.
  • Develop familiarity with all Save The Bay and Aquarium programs and events to be well informed and a good source of information.
  • Maintain all safety and security procedures, ensuring a positive environment for all who enter the Aquarium: staff, volunteers and guests.
  • Follow all opening and closing checklists.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years of experience in customer service and/or retail sales in high activity environments.
  • 1+ years of experience with Point of Sale systems (knowledge of Square is a plus) and cash handling.
  • Excellent communication skills required. Must be outgoing and have a positive personality.
  • Excellent time management skills and dependability.
  • Year-round weekend & evening hours required.
  • Comfortable sitting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Spanish or other multilingual skills a plus.
  • A criminal background check is required.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

$16 per hour
