Tiferet is the science teacher at The Jewish Community Day School in Providence. Over the past three years, Tiferet has been utilizing Save The Bay’s education program as a core component of her students’ science curriculum. She has also led the charge to ensure that environmental education is not an add-on, but an integral part of her students’ learning experiences. She collaborates closely with the Save The Bay education team to align programming tightly with her current science curriculum and thoughtfully connects environmental concepts across disciplines.
Her leadership extends beyond her classroom. This past year, she played a key role in organizing a school-wide professional development focused on environmental education, taking on the majority of the administrative coordination. This effort was recognized by her Head of School as both impactful and exceptional.
Tiferet is a passionate educator who inspires colleagues and students alike through her dedication to hands-on, experiential learning rooted in students’ local environment. By empowering her students to engage meaningfully with environmental issues, she fosters stewardship, curiosity, and a sense of responsibility for Narragansett Bay.
