2018 Environmental Achievement Award Winner
Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association
Since 2004, the Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association has supported the fishing communities of Rhode Island by fostering sportsmanship, promoting right practices and hosting youth fishing days. The association is also an effective champion of every citizen’s right to access the Bay, even urging the Attorney General of Rhode Island to protect public access in law and in the courts.
RISAA’s tireless conservation efforts have helped secure the place of the menhaden, a species sometimes referred to as “the most important fish in the sea.”
Inspired by the motto, “We Fish! We Vote!,” the organization’s political action committee continues to advocate for the protection of the Bay.
