Welcome 2025! I’d like to share a few “shoutouts” to some who helped make the start of the 2024- ’25 school year an awesome one in grade five at Thompson Middle School.
The first few shoutouts go to:
-Save the Bay. Students learned so much on our bay experience cruise, and many got their first peek into your new aquarium. We look forward to our classroom visits this winter and our spring trip to the aquarium.
-Cathleen Carr and crew at newportFILM.
-Andrea Gingras and crew at the URI Graduate School of Oceanography. Students loved learning about Dr. Ballard and exploring your cool campus.
-Rogers High School Junior ROTC. We were all so impressed with your professionalism as you presented the colors.
-TMS Advanced Band under Mr. Chilton and Principal Dr. Michael Browner. Your musical talents truly livened up our entire assembly.
-Representative Marvin Abney. Continuing the tradition of being our assembly’s keynote speaker again this year.
-TMS PTO. Brooke Ferreira and her team have been busy fundraising to bring fun back to all students at TMS.
-Bike Newport. Amazing organization and instruction for providing safety lessons and helmets to keep our riders safe.
-Newport Public Education Foundation. We appreciate all who donate and the generosity of the foundation. This year both clusters will be able to visit the Rhode Island Resource Recovery in June to learn more about how we can help our landfill last longer.
-Pam and Jack Grant. Your support of my Donors Choose projects each year is extremely generous.
-The new Newport School Committee. For starting out your term by following through on your campaign promises to resolve the issues with TAN by being willing to listen and respond accordingly.
Cheers to all of you mentioned above. You truly are making a difference in the lives of children.
