The Swim

The Save The Bay Swim Fundraiser

The Swim is Save The Bay’s largest, and most iconic, annual fundraiser. Since 1977, athletes and advocates have been inspired to tackle a two-mile, open water swim across Narragansett Bay’s East Passage, raising both funds and awareness for Save The Bay’s mission to protect and improve Narragansett Bay.

As a fundraiser, The Swim directly supports Save The Bay’s educational programs, our advocacy efforts, and our habitat restoration efforts. As a community event, The Swim engages hundreds of swimmers, kayakers and volunteers in a celebration of the recreational benefits of Narragansett Bay.

In recent years, Save The Bay has also hosted “The Swim Open,” a virtual option of completing a swim or many other virtual athletic activities in support of Save The Bay’s mission to protect and improve Narragansett Bay.”

Celebrating 50 Years of the Narragansett Bay Swim!

For five decades, thousands of swimmers, kayakers, volunteers and supporters have gathered to celebrate Narragansett Bay. This year, we invite you to be a part of history at our 50th Anniversary Swim!

There are many ways to be part of the magic on Swim day:

  • Swim: Take the plunge and tackle the 2-mile crossing.
  • Kayak: Provide essential safety support and guidance for our swimmers.
  • Volunteer: Help us behind the scenes in various support roles.
  • Cheer: Join the crowd at the finish line to applaud hundreds of swimmers as they arrive!
  • Support: Sponsor a swimmer or the event itself.

Don’t miss out on this golden anniversary. Join the legacy!

I support Save The Bay because it is a wonderful cause and the people associated with it are equally wonderful. I have seen a significant improvement in the water quality of Narragansett Bay over the last several decades. I am doing the Virtual Save The Bay Swim because, Lord willing, I hope to achieve 50 consecutive Swims in my lifetime, and this is only number 29.
