Afterschool Programming
Save The Bay collaborates with a variety of partners to offer afterschool programs to students either in their schools or at our Bay Center (Providence) or our Exploration Center and Aquarium (Newport). Our afterschool programs are offered on a long-term basis (over multiple days), allowing students to acquire in-depth knowledge about Narragansett Bay in a more informal atmosphere.
Our high-quality afterschool programs offer participants an opportunity to learn and grow after the school day is done, and provide a safe alternative to risky behaviors, which can be a problem during those hours. These programs also offer help support today’s working families who depend on afterschool programming to keep their kids safe and to help improve academic achievement.
Save The Bay’s afterschool programming often includes a large-scale look at Narragansett Bay from the broad perspective of the entire watershed down to the tiniest critters that live in the Bay. Our programs are customized to appeal to students at any grade level, providing engaging science-based activities to a wide variety of audiences. For effective teaching and quality results, we work with no more than 18 students for our long-term afterschool programs.
